hanatama family.

i really like finsu.
you may be thinking... hetalia? in this day and age? and i say yes. i did a hetalia revisit with some of my friends a couple years back, and it's something i'll always be super fond of. i remember it being one of the first animes i watched as a kid, and to be honest it's how i really found out gay people existed. i owe hetalia a lot for being the woman i am now. it's so "anime" in a way that i'm nostalgic of when i look at the modern dogshit anime seasons that plagues us nowadays. it's silly and fun and colorful and the characters are all so charming. though i must say i'm partial specifically to the studio deen adaptations. it's probably my own bias talking but it was so representative of the era of anime that was still Weird and not so corporate. the years of cosplay videos and yaoi paddles and squee-ing. Take Me Back.
but what about the ship itself? honestly, in my youth, i was more into prussia/austria, but i think my tastes have changed and i've become more of a yaoi conservative. i have blatant uke bias and i always want to woobie and torment my uke-chans. sweden is no exception! i know in canon sweden calls finland his wife, but my own interpretation is that sweden suffers from crazy catholic guilt and can only see his attraction to finland as heteronormative. in that way i like to flip the script and finsu instead of the typical sufin. finland is pretty resistant to the petname and rather it be a disagreement about their relationship i think it just doesn't suit him LOL. like. sweden is so reserved and quiet. when i think about them following the Nuclear Family i think sweden would enjoy staying at home with the kids more. maybe sweden would internalize being the Wife more... (starts drooling)
oh speaking of kids. did you know that they not only take care of sealand, but they also care for ladonia? ladonia is a newer edition in the micronation crew. sweden takes him in because he's a little brat. such a motherly nature...
